New User Training Guide (North Carolina)
This page is here to help users determine which courses they are required to take on our training website. If you are new to the site and are looking for a guide on how to get started, please click here for the Certification Site Overview.
Our training website divides the courses into seven categories, some of which contain sub-categories. The easiest way to go about the training is to complete them in the order they are listed on the menu. The guide below will determine which of these courses you are required to take (depending on your role in your agency or Continuum of Care) and which you are able to skip.
Each section of this page shows the required trainings based on user roles. If you do not know what your user role is, please contact your Agency or System Administrator. If you do not know who your Agency or System Administrator is, please contact your direct supervisor.
Beneath the user role descriptions is a section that describes each category of courses and the trainings within them. Please make sure to read this section in addition to the section corresponding to your user role before you begin your training.
Lastly, at the bottom of the page, is a section with the estimated time it will take to complete each course, as well as a total time for each course category.

The required annual update for Agency/Continuum of Care Leaders is Basic Privacy and Security. All other trainings in this category are not required.
The required training in the ServicePoint Modules category for Agency/Continuum of Care Leaders is FundManager Training. All other trainings in this category are optional.
The required annual updates for Basic Users are Basic Privacy and Security, Informed Consent and Data Collection, Securing Client Records, and Creating Unnamed Records. The Establishing Visibility training is not required.
The required annual update for Intake Staff is Basic Privacy and Security. All other trainings in this category are not required.
This section of the page contains a description of each category of trainings on our site. Please read the description for each category that applies to you before you begin your training.
1. Prerequisites (All Users)
All courses in this category are required of all users, regardless of their role in their agency or Continuum of Care. Please complete the 'Basic Privacy and Security' course before completing any others.
2. Core Trainings (All HMIS Users)
All courses in this category are required of all users whose role involves use of the HMIS. All users who do not partake in the HMIS are not required to take these trainings.
3a. Youth Providers
These trainings are to be taken if applicable to a user's project or Continuum of Care. If these trainings do not apply to either of these things, you are not required to take them. If you are not sure whether or not these trainings are applicable to your project or Continuum of Care, please contact your Agency or System Administrator. If you do not know who your Agency or System Administrator is, please ask your direct supervisor.
3b. VI-SPDAT and VI-F-SPDAT
This training is also only required if it applies to your project or Continuum of Care.
4. Required Annual Updates
These trainings are those that must be retaken annually, no later than one year after the completion of the initial training or the most recent update.
5. Agency/System Administrator Training
These trainings are required only of Agency and System Administrators. For all other users these trainings are optional.
6. Advanced Topics
These are advanced trainings that are only to be taken after all previously listed trainings have been completed.
7. ServicePoint Modules
These trainings apply to certain modules within ServicePoint, and are optional for all users, with the exception of the FundManager training, which is required only of Agency/Continuum of Care Leaders.
